They say he is fine, but he is prone to relapse. The last time he came by, he had collapsed into a pile of the floor. Small wonder, too, for he had given in and gone under when someone handed him the schnapps. He lost track of the time, it had elapsed so quickly he simply let go, let himself get torn, inside, asunder. They say he is fine. They say it isn't so much, perhaps, his fault each time he reaches for that schnapps, that the force of the attraction is enough to buckle under, that he can no more than knuckle under. He is brought to his knees each relapse, and they say he is fine.
